Here’s a brilliant opportunity for artists or bands looking to break through – the PRS Foundation is giving out funding grants of between £5,000 and £15,000.
The money is available from the Momentum Music Fund (MMF), a well established and prestigious grants scheme. The deadline for applications is 11 September, so here’s the lowdown.
Who does the MMF support?
Artists who have already done some groundwork and have demonstrated willing and talent. Grants are not for artists or bands who are just starting out. To be eligible for an MMF grant you must be at a crucial tipping point in your career, and show growth as an artist and potential to develop significantly over the next two years.
It’s not for songwriters or producers either. If you fit this category, and have writing credits, then consider applying for The Writer Producer Fund.
What can MMF funding grant funds be used for?
All sorts of good stuff such as recording, touring and marketing costs.
But wait, we hear there’s more
As well as securing financial support, you will get the chance to perform at a Momentum event managed by Ben Sherman. These gigs provide invaluable promotional and marketing support and introduce artists to new audiences and platforms.
You said the scheme was prestigious, name some past recipients?
If you manage to secure funds you’ll be in good company as lots of rising stars have been given a leg up thanks to the MMF. Previous recipients include Brit Award winner Sam Fender, new wave jazzer Oscar Jerome, Poppy Ajudha, Anna Calvi and Ezra Collective.
Who manages and supports the fund?
It is managed by PRS Foundation, with support from PPL, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Invest NI, with additional funding and support from Spotify and events partner Ben Sherman.
