Here’s how you can help put music on the agenda

If you’re a fan of the Musicians’ Union (MU) and its work fighting to protect the rights and opportunities of performers, then there’s a little something you can do to show your support.

The MU is asking for help reaching out to the wider community as it wants to encourage music lovers from all walks of life to sign up to its supporter network.

Supporters will be kept informed about the progress of MU campaigns and invited to lobby decision-makers on key issues such as access to music lessons for school-aged children and halting the closure of live music venues. With a wider support base, the MU feels it can have more sway over government. (It’s a noble ambition worth supporting even in these strange political times.)

So how can you as a singer help? It’s easy. Share this video, titled I am music, with your friends, families and followers on social media along with #BehindEveryMusician. The video explains the important role music plays in all our lives.

The MU have even suggested a few social media posts…in case your short on time or inspiration or both.
