Emeli Sandé to headline gig to support artist welfare

Fancy doing your bit to support the health and welfare of musicians and catching award-winning singer Emeli Sandé perform live at an intimate gig?

Yup us too. That’s why we’ve entered the ballot for tickets to a special event taking place in London on 17 June.

Sandé will perform at a secret location for an audience of just 100, with support from rising star Love Ssega.

It’s the first in a series of shows taking place this year to raise funds and awareness for Help Musicians UK (HMUK), a charity that supports the physical, mental and professional health and welfare of musicians.

Sandé says: “Supporting the well-being of musicians is a cause close to my heart and when I was asked to take part I jumped at the chance, I can’t wait!”

HMUK’s Director of Fundraising Belinda Dee says all proceeds from the event will go to the frontline to help musicians. This is good news as demand for the charity’s services grew in 2018.

She says: “This trend is set to continue so we really value the generous help of our supporters, allowing the charity to continue making a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians, so that they thrive, not just survive.”

The gig series is supported by global live music brand Sofar Sounds and investment management firm Signa.

Each of this year’s events will take place in a landmark venue with line-ups that feature household names and emerging artists. So even if you’re not lucky enough to secure tickets this time round, stay tuned more opportunities are on their way.
